How To Make Attieke | Akyeke with fried tilapia from Scratch


Attieke is a traditional Ivorian dish made from cassava, and it is typically served with fish, vegetables, and other seasonings. Here's a recipe for preparing Attieke with frozen cassava, fish, shrimp, and vegetables: Watch Now

Ingredients:

  • 1 pack of frozen Attieke (cassava)

  • 1 fish fillet (tilapia or any fish of your choice)

  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced

  • 1 onion, sliced

  • 1/2 lb shrimp, peeled and deveined

  • 1 avocado, sliced

  • 2 eggs

  • 2 tablespoons of olive oil

  • 2 cucumbers, sliced

Seasoning:

  • 1 tablespoon of all-purpose seasoning

  • 1 tablespoon of Maggi

  • 1 teaspoon of sea salt

  • 1 teaspoon of complete seasoning

  • 1 teaspoon of chicken flavor bouillon

  • 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper

  • 1/2 teaspoon of Sazon Goya

  • 1/2 teaspoon of hot/spicy pepper (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Rinse the frozen Attieke in warm water to thaw it. Then drain and steam it for about 10 minutes.

  2. In a large pan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and bell peppers and sauté for about 3-4 minutes.

  3. Add the fish fillet to the pan and let it cook for 3-4 minutes on each side until fully cooked. Then, remove the fish from the pan and set it aside.

  4. Add the shrimp to the pan with the onions and bell peppers and sauté for 2-3 minutes until cooked.

  5. Season the shrimp, onions, and bell peppers with all-purpose seasoning, Maggi, sea salt, complete seasoning, chicken flavor bouillon, black pepper, Sazon Goya, and hot/spicy pepper. Stir well and cook for another minute.

  6. In another pan, scramble the eggs and set them aside.

  7. To serve, add a portion of the Attieke to a plate. Top it with the cooked shrimp, onions, and bell peppers. Add the scrambled eggs, sliced avocado, and cucumbers to the plate. Finally, add the cooked fish fillet on top.
